Facilities in the Radiation Biology Laboratory


The following cell culture facilities are available :

  • Autoclave
  • Millipore filtering system
  • CO2 incubator shaking incubator, B.O.D. incubator
  • Oven
which are useful for culturing lymphocytes, Leishmania and various other microorganisms

Advanced Fluorescence microscope with image analyser:
  • Radiation induced chromosomal damages, cell cycle stages and apoptosis can be investigated by using suitable fluorescence dyes.

  • Microbial population before and after irradiation can also be studied.


Electrophoresis with trans-blot unit:
  • Protein and DNA can be separated by using polyacrylamide electrophoresis and agarose gel electrophoresis.
  • Protein expressions can be quantified by western blot method using electrophoresis, trans-blot unit, tagged antibodies and X-ray film.
